Day 2
Meet an English-speaking local guide in the hotel lobby for a 3 hour private walking tour of the Zagreb city center and its Upper Town, the
historic heart of Zagreb. Located on the slopes of the Medvednica Mountain along the Sava River, the 900-year-old city lives a rich cultural
life and is also the largest city and the cultural, economic, cinematic, sporting and governmental hub of the country. The oldest areas,
Gradec and Kaptol from which the city of Zagreb arose, are considered to be one of the most preserved and beautiful European city centers
built in the Art Nouveau style.
Even though Zagreb still lacks the big-city vibe of Vienna and Budapest, the charm of its alluring neighborhood is undeniable.
Your private tour of Zagreb starts with a pleasant 30 minute panoramic tour through the historic city centre in a fully electric replica of the legendary Ford model T. It is a perfect way to step back in time and experience historic corners of Zagreb in a very original and extraordinary way before continuing with a walking tour during which you’d take the funicular ride up to the Upper Town – one of the shortest funicular rides in the world – to visit the St. Mark’s Church with the beautiful multi-colored roof decorated with Croatian historical coats of arms, Ban’s Court and the Croatian Parliament on the Mark’s Square but also the neogothic cathedral, the vivid Tkalciceva street and the popular green market ‘Dolac’.
Meet your driver and head on a private half-day-trip north of Zagreb, precisely the Croatian Zagroje region – a tranquil, hilly and green area
that is rich in history and cultural heritage, medieval castles, thermal springs, distinct culinary and a centuries-long cultivation of cool climate
grapes.
Arrive first at Vuglec Breg for lunch (own expense) – an authentic Zagorje hilltop homestead overlooking beautiful vineyards. It features a
family-owned winery and restaurant and occupies a charming rustic setting, just perfect to discover traditional Zagorje cuisine based on
seasonal ingredients as well as organic produce paired with a respected selection of Zagorje wines
After lunch, continue towards the fairytale-like Trakoscan Castle.
Arrive at the Trakoscan Castle and enjoy a 1 hour private onsite tour with your local guide.
Besides its amazing reconstruction, Trakoscan Castle contains valuable examples of Baroque furniture and different weapons used from the 15th to the 19th century. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden and a forest park with a lake. Walk around the inside and outside of the castle with your guide and get to know about the Croatian aristocracy who once lived there while exploring its halls and various art, furniture and weapon collections
Transfer back towards Zagreb.
